‘Eaten’ gets honored at Athens Animfest

The 2020 Athens Animfest in Greece awards Iranian animation ‘Eaten’.

The 2020 Athens Animfest International Animation Festival in Greece has honored Iranian short animation ‘Eaten’.

Mohsen Rezapour’s 7-minute short film has been granted the Distinction award at the Short Competition section of the Greek event’s 15th edition.

The film is about a rabbit which has been eaten by a wolf. When finally in the predator’s stomach, it meets another rabbit which had been eaten by the wolf some earlier time. Now the two go on living in this new environment and the story proceeds from this point on.

Rezapour, the director of the flick, has said to the media that although his animation is a fantasy production, it is not intended for the kids. Due to the fact that the things that happen on the show are a bit harsh, targeting the adults.

The film has already been showcased at a number of global events, including the Dieciminuti Film Festival in Italy, the TAIS Animation Showcase in Canada and the Fluxus Animation Film Festival in the Netherlands.

The 2020 Athens Animfest also played host to some other Iranian short works, such as ‘Divinity (Malakout)’ directed by Farnoush Abedi, ‘Each Other’ by Sara Tabibzadeh, ‘Gray Body’ by Samaneh Shojaei and ‘The Myth of Dragon’s Mountain’ co-directed by Asghar Safar and Abbas Jalali-Yekta.

The event holds annually in March, but due to the pandemic, this year’s edition of the fest was postponed to be held online on November 6-8. The award-winners were announced on November 12.
